It’s Wednesday!? Already? That means March Break is HALFWAY OVER! And I haven’t even done anything yet!
I may have gotten some things done.. but… but not enough! March break was supposed to be this great time where I magically become productive and get everything I’ve ever wanted to do done!
This is when I start stressing. I need to get more things done! But how?
I am in no way a master of spending time well. Still, I have some tips on how to spend your time off well.
1. Get out of bed
You would think this is a given. But as soon as vacations come around, the need to get out of bed seems to disappear. What do you mean, get up? I don’t have anything I need to do today! I’m staying right here.
Today, though, you do have things to do. You have hours of time to spend, and you’re wasting it! What exactly do you have to do? That’s what comes next.
2. Make a to-do list
No matter what you tell your sleepy self, you do have things you NEED to get done today. There is always some household chore you’ve been putting off, a book you need to read, an email you need to write, a garden you must rid of thwaps. (Hopefully not the last one…)
Whether you make it the night before, or in the morning, a to-do list is a great way to keep your day on track. Think of one project you really need to get done, or work on. Then, think of some other productive things you could do, that you enjoy. Maybe going for a hike, reading a book or starting a new art project. Maybe it’s spending time with a pet. Something you wish you had the time for daily.
As the day goes on, work through the to-do list in whatever order works best. The things you can’t get done can be discarded, or moved on for tomorrow.

Now, you don’t need to make a SUPER long list. Maybe one or two things will be enough for you. But by making a to do list, you can know how to spend your time when you have it.
3. Go to bed
Bedtime? But you just told me to get up!
Yeah, that’s the point. If you plan to actually get out of bed in the morning, and at a good time as well, you’re going to need to go to sleep at a good time.
You know your own limits (hopefully). How many hours of sleep do you need to function? (And by function, I don’t mean walk around like a zombie.) So get to bed at a time that will make tomorrow a good day as well.
4. Trust the lord
God holds all time in his hands. Trust that he has a plan for your life today, whether you get things done or not. Spending time in his word is never a waste, and a great way to start the day.
Proverbs 16:9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.
The Lord has a plan for you every day, whether it fits with yours or not. And his plans for you are good.
Did I tell you I’m a tad insane? I mentioned last week I plan to start writing soon… my plans changed a bit. Next month is Camp NaNoWriMo. Sortof like NaNoWriMo but it’s in April and you can challenge yourself to write however many words you like. I’m going to write another 50,000! *bounces around excitedly*
I’m still working out the kinks of my plot… then I’m doubling back to work on character more. But… hopefully I’ll be done by April 1st! Wish me luck..
